High School Rodeo

The Kentucky HS Rodeo invited the Indiana and Tennessee HS Rodeo kids for competition this weekend on Halloween at the Western Kentucky University Ag Expo Center, in Bowling Green, Ky. I got there with a half an hour of sunlight and time left to shoot before the kids had to get ready for their events. This is what I got.
(I know the above photo isn't sharp. It was meant to be a quick shot to help me with captions, but I really liked it once I dropped my images).







This woman was so nice. She didn't even know my name and immediately offered me home cooked chili and a drink. Her name is Jeanne Strange.

Brain Trust

I have started working on a portrait series of a community of international University of Tennessee students. The community has been dubbed "The Brain Trust" by fellow UT students due to the intelligence of the foreign students.

University of Tennesse football is a series business. Opening day of the season seemed almost like a holiday. These UT Graduate students were up by 8am to start tailgating for UT's first home game againt Western Kentucky University.

Graduation Announcements

I decided that I wasn't going to pay $70 for twenty graduation invitation, and so I made them myself. I designed eight, but these were the ones that I liked the best.

8am-9am

The Talisman (our yearbook) at Western was doing a 24hours of Western project. Each hour was to be documented and I signed up for 8am-9am. I went out to the Agricultural farm and found WKU students finishing up their chores before heading to class.

Ice Storm

Bowling Green had its annual ice storm last night. It was so very pretty this morning.







Western decided to hold classes despite all of the ice and unfortunately a student was injured after a tree limb broke and struck her as she was walking through campus. She was conscious when paramedics arrived on the scene. I heard that she was going to be alright but I haven't received any more information since she was taken to the hospital this morning. I hope she is all right.
This was my first spot news event.
UPDATE: The girl is just fine.
